Hygiene Poverty

What is hygiene poverty?

Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford everyday personal hygiene products many of us take for grantedThis can lead to a negative impact on people’s physical and mental health, as well as their social and economic well-being.

We are delighted to introduce our new appeal ‘Hygiene poverty: donation station,’ an initiative that is very important to us. We will be collecting essential hygiene products for YMCA, Goods For Good and Watford Women’s Centre to make a meaningful impact on the local community.

Donations of hygiene products can be dropped off at our donation station on the upper mall, near Apple.

Every contribution is valued and will go a long way in supporting people and families in need in Watford and the surrounding areas. We thank you in advance for your generosity; your support can make a significant difference in providing essential items to those facing these challenges.

The Charities and the Families We are Supporting

YMCA

YMCA is committed to creating fairness and opportunity, recognising the essential building blocks for a fulfilling life: a secure home, acceptance, guidance, friendship, physical and mental health, academic support, employment skills, and access to real opportunities. These foundational elements pave the way for a fresh start and a better quality of life, benefiting both young individuals and the community at large.

Goods For Good

At Harlequin Watford, we’re proud to support Goods for Good—an organisation dedicated to ensuring that no usable product goes to waste and that people in crisis receive the essentials they need.

Goods for Good works tirelessly to collect high‑quality surplus items—such as clothing, bedding, footwear, and toiletries—and redistributes them to individuals and families facing poverty, displacement, or emergency situations. Instead of ending up in landfill, these vital goods are delivered directly to people who need them most, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Through partnerships with businesses, brands, and local communities, Goods for Good transforms excess stock into meaningful support. Their work not only reduces waste and protects the planet, but also creates a compassionate safety net for vulnerable people—ensuring no one is left behind.
